Generally heat shrink tubing is been used for the purpose of insulation in the wiring applications, where wires are needed either to be spliced or repaired and these heatshrink can be replaced by electrical tape and wire nuts and also in many other applications. These heat shrink tubing comes in a variety of sizes too and in various ranges of wall thicknesses and it is naturally been designed to shrink when heat is been applied to these heat shrink tubes. During the process of electrical assembly it is a very highly useful property and as it also allow a continuous band of insulation which is to be neatly formed which would be around the splice in a wire. Generally these electrical tapes have a tendency to come out unraveled and it is also very difficult to get it wrapped both neatly and tightly around the smaller gauge wires and generally these heat shrink has several many layers.
