The most followed format in writing an essay is to have five paragraphs in it. The first paragraph would contain a highly structured introduction which would present the thesis statement in it and followed by three paragraphs in its body and each of it would be presenting an idea which would rather support the thesis along with presenting supporting evidences and quotations and the final and fifth paragraph being the conclusion part and would restate the thesis and summarize the points which is been supported through the course work and gives out supporting the points brought out in the essay. There are controversial views regarding this format of essay writing is still going on. The most written among the essays are the academic essays and the more the longer the essays are the more discursive they are. Mostly the academic essays take up literature review in them. The academic essays in case if they are too long would try to explain each and every term of the topic and also carry a bibliography in them.
