The fresh water pearls which are mostly round and have a very similar look to the Akoya pearls while wearing are been considered as the most excellent and quite affordable gift and they are of much lower priced when compared to Akoya pearls. Most of the fresh water pearls come from China and they are produced out of an elaborate process where in only a single mussel is been used to harvest the pearls many a times and can be made to yield many pearls at a time. When compared to the Akoya pearls the fresh water pearls have many advantages over them but the few disadvantages are they are generally small, and quite less symmetrical, and does not much well when placed on a strand. The most popular colors in which the cultured fresh water pearls come are white, pink, orange and other pastel colors and they can be found in necklaces, pendants, strands, ear rings and bracelets.
